Estcourt Clock Tower

British-era clock tower at the heart of the bazaar district

A modest red-brick clock tower built in the British period and named after the local commissioner of the day, J. K. Estcourt. It marks the centre of one of Gujranwala's busiest bazaar areas — a useful landmark to navigate by, with crowded lanes of cloth shops, sweet sellers and shoe wholesalers radiating from the base. The clock itself rarely keeps time these days; the tower is more interesting as a centrepoint than as architecture.

The surrounding streets are some of the best places in the city for street food and people-watching.
