Gujranwala's most rewarding day trip is south to Lahore — Punjab's cultural capital, with the Mughal monuments, the food and the old city walls. An hour and a bit by car, or a comfortable train ride. Gujrat (the next town north on the GT Road) and Sialkot (industrial, but with a small old town and the Iqbal Manzil museum) also make easy half-day excursions.
