Nushki sits on the N-40 highway (the historic RCD Road) about 145 km west of Quetta, the provincial capital and the practical jumping-off point for any trip into western Balochistan. The drive takes around three to four hours by car, longer by the daily Daewoo or Niazi bus services from Quetta's main terminal.
There is also a train, two or three services a week, on the long Quetta–Zahedan line — slow but a memorable journey across the Balochistan plateau.
Foreign travellers must hold a No Objection Certificate (NOC) from the Pakistani Home Department for travel in Balochistan, and at the time of writing are often required to travel with a police escort outside Quetta. Plan for paperwork and patience. The security situation in the area can change quickly; check before you go.
