Nushki is not a town that people travel to for sights. What it offers is something more elusive: the texture of small-town life on the edge of the Pakistani–Afghan frontier, the long horizon of the Lora basin, and the chance to see one of the last working sections of an early-twentieth-century imperial railway. Travellers who pass through usually do so en route somewhere else — across the border at Taftan, or down to Quetta — but a day in town is rewarding for those with patience and an interest in border-country life.
Travel here requires planning. Foreigners need a No-Objection Certificate from the Pakistani authorities to visit most of Balochistan, and security can change quickly. Check the situation locally before arriving.
