Eating Out

Hebron's food scene is Palestinian home cooking at its most straightforward: roast lamb, musakhan (chicken on flatbread with sumac and caramelised onions), maqluba (upside-down rice and vegetable dish), and knafeh (sweet cheese pastry) for dessert. The best places are family restaurants near the old city and around the main commercial street. Expect modest settings and good food. Knafeh from Hebron — made with nabulsi cheese and topped with orange sugar syrup — is considered among the best in the West Bank.
