Getting There

Hebron (Al-Khalil) is around 30 km south of Bethlehem and 35 km south of Jerusalem. Shared taxis (servees) run frequently between Hebron and the central bus station in Bethlehem. From Jerusalem, take a shared taxi to Bethlehem and transfer — direct taxis from East Jerusalem also operate but are more expensive. There is no passenger train service to Hebron.

Most visitors arrive via the West Bank road network. The main checkpoint entering the H2 (Israeli-controlled) zone within Hebron is at the edge of the old city; foreign visitors with Western passports generally pass through without difficulty. Travel advisories change; check current conditions before visiting. A local guide can ease navigation and provide context that is hard to absorb on your own.
