Melanesian art and ethnography on Independence Hill

The national collection of Melanesian art and ethnography, housed in a modernist building on Independence Hill next to Parliament. Sepik masks, Asaro mud masks, canoe prows, ancestor figures -- an excellent grounding for anyone heading on to the Sepik or the Highlands. The collection helps make sense of the extraordinary cultural diversity packed into this one country.

Closed Fridays and Saturdays. Allow at least an hour.
