The Minor Basilica of the Black Nazarene — Quiapo Church — is the spiritual heart of Manila. Inside stands the Black Nazarene, a dark wooden statue of Christ brought from Mexico in 1606 and believed to grant miracles; on its January feast millions join a barefoot procession to touch it. Outside, the steps swarm with stalls selling candles, amulets, and herbal cures.
