Getting There

By air: Dumaguete Airport (DGT) is small but well-connected. Cebu Pacific and Philippine Airlines run multiple flights daily from Manila, and there are direct services from Cebu (Mactan). The airport is only a few kilometres from the city centre; a tricycle or taxi takes ten minutes.

By sea: Fast ferries are the other practical option and for some routes they are competitive with flying once airport wait times are counted. Oceanjet, Weesam Express, and other operators run services from Cebu City (around two to three hours), from Tagbilaran in Bohol (two and a half hours), and from Siquijor (about an hour). The Dumaguete pier is in the city centre, minutes from Rizal Boulevard.

Overland from Bacolod: The road from Bacolod crosses the central mountain range and takes five to six hours by bus or private vehicle. The road is scenic and the buses are comfortable by Philippine standards, but the route is slow and winding. It is worth doing once for the scenery; for a second trip, the ferry or plane is quicker.
