A 43-hectare protected marine and terrestrial reserve off the coast of Sipalay, managed by the Philippine Reef and Rainforest Conservation Foundation. The island has five lagoons, coral reefs teeming with marine life, and dense vegetation that shelters the endangered white-breasted sea eagle among other species.
Visits are by arrangement only — you book through the foundation and stay in basic eco-camp shelters. Snorkelling and diving here are exceptional, with healthy hard coral cover and good visibility. It's not a resort experience, but if you want to see what Philippine reefs looked like before the dynamite fishers arrived, this is it.
