Dampa is the classic Metro Manila seafood experience: you walk through the wet market, choose your fish, squid, crab, shrimp, or clams from the stalls, then carry your selection to one of the surrounding cook-to-order restaurants who will prepare it however you like — grilled, steamed, in a broth, with garlic butter, or cooked in any of a dozen Filipino preparations. The fee for cooking is separate and modest.
The Parañaque outlet near the Coastal Road is the more accessible version; the original Dampa in Macapagal Boulevard in Pasay City is nearby. Come with a group of four or more to justify buying a full spread of different items. Prices vary by season and what's running — the staff at the stalls will tell you what's good that day. Avoid Sundays if you dislike crowds; it is absolutely packed.
