Pancit Habhab Vendors

Pancit habhab is Quezon Province's most distinctive dish: egg noodles stir-fried with vegetables, pork, and soy-vinegar sauce, served on a folded banana leaf and eaten by lifting the leaf to your mouth — no plate, no fork, no utensils. "Habhab" refers to the slurping action. The result is intensely savoury, slightly sticky, and best eaten standing up at a street stall.

The best vendors cluster around the Lucena Public Market and the small streets off the plaza near the cathedral. Look for woks over gas burners and stacks of cut banana leaves. A portion costs ₱30–50 and takes about two minutes to prepare. Vendors often add a splash of sukang Iloko (cane vinegar) and a sprinkle of chilli on request. Do not leave Lucena without eating at least one.
