When to Go

Lucena has a tropical climate with a pronounced wet season from June to October, when typhoons occasionally brush Quezon Province. The dry season from November to May is the better time to visit, with cooler temperatures and clear skies.

May is the most lively month. The Kamayan Festival celebrates the province's agricultural and cultural heritage with street parades, float competitions, and outdoor feasts. The Pasayahan sa Lucena city fiesta (in honour of Saint Ferdinand, the city's patron) fills the cathedral square with music and processions. Both events run over several days and draw crowds from across the province.

December to February is the coolest and most comfortable period, with daytime temperatures around 25–28°C. It's a good time to combine Lucena with a ferry trip to Marinduque or a visit to the inland towns of Quezon Province.

Avoid travelling through Lucena in late October and November during the height of the return typhoon season — road flooding can disrupt the highway connections south.
