Hinulugang Taktak

Roadside waterfall and protected park north of Antipolo

A small but pleasant waterfall on the road into Antipolo, set in a national park of around three hectares. The Taktak Falls drop about 14 metres into a basin pool surrounded by trees — modest in scale but a real green space close to Metro Manila.

It is at its best after rain; in dry season the flow is thin and the pool can be murky. Steps and walkways are well maintained. A few food stalls cluster near the entrance.

A story
The name Hinulugang Taktak — roughly 'the place where the bell was dropped' — comes from a Spanish-era story in which villagers, irritated by the loud tolling of a church bell, hauled it up the hill and threw it over the falls. The bell is supposedly still down there in the pool.
