Masungi Georeserve

Limestone karst trail conservation project in the Sierra Madre

A private nature reserve and conservation project on the Sierra Madre slopes north of Antipolo, around 60 km from Manila. The signature attraction is a guided trail through dramatic limestone karst formations, with steel rope bridges and viewpoints that look out over the jagged peaks and across to Laguna de Bay.

Bookings are essential and timed; the guides walk small groups along the four-hour route. The slightly more demanding Garden Route — a planting tour through the reforested slopes — is the longer alternative. Pricing is steep by local standards, but the proceeds fund the conservation work.

A story
Masungi began as a private conservation initiative on what had been heavily logged forest land — the team planted hundreds of thousands of native trees over a decade. The signature feature is the Sapot, a steel rope-net suspended over a 60-metre drop between karst pinnacles. Visitors walk across it.
