Isdaan is the most theatrical restaurant in Central Luzon: a rambling complex of nipa huts built on platforms over a large fish farm in Gerona, north of Tarlac City on McArthur Highway. You choose your fish from the ponds — tilapia, catfish, bangus — and it arrives grilled or fried minutes later alongside heaped rice and local vegetables. The setting at dusk, with the ponds reflecting the lights of the huts, is genuinely impressive.
The other draw is the Tacsiyapo Wall, a brick partition where for a small fee you can smash plates, cups, and glasses against words representing your frustrations. It is as cathartic as it sounds, and popular with wedding parties and corporate outings. The restaurant complex also includes a small theme park, souvenir stalls, and a petting zoo for children. Expect crowds on weekends; weekday visits are quieter and the food comes faster.
