The waterfront at Waqra is the uncelebrated, quieter version of the corniche experience available in Doha. A simple promenade runs along the shore, with traditional wooden fishing boats moored in the shallows and the fort visible a short distance along the waterfront. In the early morning and late afternoon, when the light is low over the Gulf, it's a genuinely peaceful place.
Waqra sees almost none of the tourism traffic that passes through Al Wakrah and Doha. This is its main appeal: it remains a working fishing village, albeit a small one, and feels unperformed.
