Half Moon Bay

The Eastern Province's best beach — a crescent of white sand with diving and water sports

Half Moon Bay (Dawhat Khobar) is a protected crescent-shaped inlet about 25 km south of central Dammam, near Al-Khobar. The beach has clear, shallow Gulf water that is warm enough to swim in for most of the year, and the half-moon shape of the bay keeps it calmer than the open coast. An artificial reef offshore — constructed partly from sunken vehicles — draws recreational divers every Friday morning.

The bay has a small amusement park popular with families, a marina, and beach facilities. It is very crowded on Thursday evenings and Fridays; come on weekday mornings for a quieter experience. Diving equipment rental and lessons are available from local operators.
