The coast around Jubail is among the least developed on the Saudi Arabian Gulf shore. The city's industrial footprint is concentrated in a defined zone, leaving long stretches of sandy beach to the north and south that are clean, shallow, and calm. Half Moon Bay, about an hour's drive south, is the most famous beach in the Eastern Province, but the beaches closer to Jubail are quieter and frequented mainly by residents.
