The King Fahd International Airport (DMM), about 30 km northwest of Khobar near Dammam, is the gateway for the Eastern Province. It serves direct flights from across the Gulf, the Middle East, the Indian subcontinent, and Europe (London, Frankfurt, Istanbul, Cairo) as well as connections to Riyadh and Jeddah on Saudia and flynas. Taxi to central Khobar takes around 30 minutes; Uber and the local ride-hail Careem both operate.
By road, Khobar sits on the Saudi side of the Bahrain causeway and at the end of the long road link to Riyadh (around 4 hours by car, 5–6 by SAPTCO bus). The new Saudi national rail network (SAR) does not yet reach the Eastern Province. Many visitors arrive overland from Bahrain via the causeway; arrival formalities are straightforward but queues can be long on weekend evenings.
