The Heritage Village near the southern Corniche is a small open-air reconstruction of how Khobar looked before the oil money arrived in the 1940s — low coral-stone houses with wooden balconies, a date palm market square, a traditional dhow shipyard, and demonstrations of pre-industrial crafts: pearl diving equipment, basket weaving, the old fishing nets.
It is modest in scale but well intended, and a useful counterweight to a city otherwise dominated by 1980s tower blocks and shopping malls. Best visited in the cooler months when the outdoor displays are functional. Combine with a Corniche walk in the same afternoon. Free entry; opening hours vary, particularly in summer.
