The three towers of Marina Bay Sands, joined at the top by a 340-metre boat-shaped SkyPark, are the building that put twenty-first-century Singapore on a thousand postcards. Designed by Moshe Safdie and opened in 2010, it holds a hotel, a casino, a vast shopping mall, and a convention centre, but it is the cantilevered deck across the three towers — and the infinity pool that appears to spill off the edge — that everyone comes for.
The pool is for hotel guests only, but the SkyPark observation deck is open to anyone who buys a ticket, and the view over Marina Bay, Gardens by the Bay, and the financial district is the best in the city. The mall below holds a canal with sampan rides, a skating rink, and the flagship stores of most luxury brands. The nightly Spectra light-and-water show plays on the bay-side promenade in front of the hotel.
