Gaesimsa Temple sits in the forest on Sangwangsan Mountain, close enough to combine with the Rock-carved Buddha Triad and Bowonsa area. The approach is part of the appeal: a wooded path, a slower rhythm, and in spring a strong show of blossoms.
It is one of the better temple stops in Chungcheongnam-do for travelers who want atmosphere without the heavy crowds of Korea's most famous temple sites.
