Eating Out

Mirissa's eating scene is dominated by fresh seafood. The beach road has a string of restaurants that display the catch of the day on ice — you choose your fish, they cook it to order, usually grilled with local spices or in a coconut milk curry. Prices are low by any standard. Beyond seafood, the usual rice and curry is available everywhere, and the café scene that has grown up around the backpacker trade means you can find good coffee, smoothies, and Western breakfasts without difficulty.
