Mirissa is a beach destination first, but the surrounding area has more than just sand. Whale watching trips run from November to April, Coconut Tree Hill offers one of the south coast's best views, and the waters provide good snorkelling and beginner surfing. The fishing culture is still very much alive here — the harbour at the eastern end of the bay is busy every morning.
