Arabic script history in a domed 15th-century madrassa

Housed in a former madrassa built in 1421, this small museum is worth visiting as much for its setting as its collections. The square central room has a dome and a pretty octagonal pool reached by three steps. Display cases hold manuscripts, calligraphy, engraved metal stamps and blue faience inkwells, alongside stones showing how Arabic script evolved from earliest antiquity.
