The Image Museum of Hsinchu City occupies a renovated former movie theatre near the city centre. Its exhibits look at film, theatre, and visual culture in Taiwan, with old images and documents that make good use of the building's own cinema history.
It is a compact stop rather than a major museum, but a worthwhile one if you are interested in Taiwanese film culture or want an indoor break close to Hsinchu's older streets. The auditorium is still used for screenings and performances.
