Lovers Lake is a small, green escape on the hills above Keelung, close enough to the city to visit casually but far enough away to feel like a change of air. Trails loop around the water and climb through forest, with a few bridges and viewpoints that make it more interesting than an ordinary neighbourhood park.
It is best on a clear morning or after the worst of Keelung's rain has passed. Bring shoes that can handle damp paths, and combine the lake with a coastal stop if you have a scooter or taxi time to spare. The park is modest, but it gives Keelung a softer side beyond the harbour and night market.
