Shihciouling Fort

Qing-era hill fort above Keelung with city and harbour views

Shihciouling Fort sits on the hills south of Keelung, one of the old defensive positions that watched the harbour and the routes inland. Built in the Qing period, it belongs to the same military landscape as Keelung's better-known coastal forts.

Come for the combination of history and viewpoint. The remains are not grand in a European-castle way, but the position makes immediate sense once you see the harbour, ridges, and transport corridors below. It is a good stop for travellers who want Keelung beyond the night market.
