Tainan Park is an old-fashioned city park north of the station, with ponds, banyans, pavilions, and fragments of the city's layered past. It is less famous than Tainan's temples and forts, but it gives the dense historic city a welcome pocket of shade.
It is best used as part of a walking day rather than a destination by itself. Morning is particularly good, when locals exercise and the park feels woven into everyday Tainan. Nearby streets make it easy to continue toward temples, markets, or the station area.
