Longtan Lake Scenic Area is the largest of the Lanyang Plain's five main lakes, set in a bowl of hills just outside Yilan. A trail circles the water, with temples on the surrounding slopes and open views across the lake.
It is an easy outdoor stop for a walk, picnic, or quiet break from central Yilan. Weekends are busier, especially in spring and summer.
