Karon Beach

Karon Beach is one of Phuket's longest and most popular beaches, running about three kilometres along the bay. The pale yellow sand is broad enough that even in high season (December to February) it absorbs visitors without feeling overcrowded, unlike Patong to the north. The water is generally clear in the dry season, turning rougher and more turbid during the monsoon months.

The beach is backed by a road lined with restaurants, bars, hotels, and shops — functional rather than beautiful, but everything you need is within walking distance. Development is spread along the bay rather than concentrated, which gives Karon a less claustrophobic atmosphere than Patong. At the southern end of the beach, the rocky headland offers good snorkelling at low tide.
