Karon's main activity is the beach itself — swimming, sunbathing, water sports. Beyond the sand, the Phuket Big Buddha on the hill above is visible from almost everywhere in the area and worth a visit, and Wat Chalong — the most important Buddhist temple on Phuket — is a short drive away. The calm between Karon and Kata beaches at the southern end of the bay offers the best snorkelling in the area.
