Krabi Town Night Market

Nightly street food market near the pier with southern Thai specialities

The night market sets up along Khong Kha Road near the riverside every evening from around 5pm. It is not a tourist market in the way that Chiang Mai's or Bangkok's night markets are — this is where locals eat, and the prices reflect it. Expect to pay 40–70 baht for a full plate.

Southern Thai food is noticeably spicier and more complex than the central Thai cooking most visitors know. Look for gaeng som (sour curry with fish or prawns), massaman with beef or chicken, grilled river prawns with seafood sauce, and fresh pad see ew noodles. There are also stalls selling mango sticky rice, Thai iced tea, and fresh-pressed sugarcane juice. The atmosphere is low-key and friendly; most vendors will point to whatever is good that evening.
