Krabi Town has much better and cheaper food than the resort areas nearby. The fresh morning market on Maharaj Road sells southern Thai curry pastes, fresh seafood, and local produce from early morning. The night market near the pier is the best place for a cheap evening meal — look for the stalls doing southern Thai classics: massaman curry, gaeng som (sour curry), grilled fish, and pad kra pao with a fried egg on rice.
