Day Trips

The Kanchanaburi province is large and scenically varied. Erawan National Park, 65 kilometres north along Route 3199, has seven tiers of waterfalls dropping into clear green pools — the swimming is excellent and the park is popular with Thai day-trippers at weekends. The Sri Nakharin Dam, further north, created a vast reservoir with floating raft houses and quiet fishing villages worth an overnight stay. Further north still, Sangkhlaburi near the Burmese border has the longest wooden bridge in Thailand and Mon villages across the river.
