Wat Tham Pha Plong

Jungle temple reached by 500 steps with valley views

About two kilometres past the cave, a staircase of roughly 500 steps winds up through dense jungle to a golden pagoda and a shrine carved into the cliff face. The steps are engraved with Buddhist quotes; the views from the top across the valley are excellent. Free to enter; dress modestly. The temple runs silent meditation retreats — contact them directly if you're interested in staying.

The climb takes 20–30 minutes and the shade keeps it bearable even in warmer months. Go in the early morning for mist and birdsong.
