The Night Bazaar on Chang Klang Road is Chiang Mai's most famous shopping strip — a dense mix of permanent shops, covered market halls, and open-air stalls that comes alive around 6pm and runs until midnight. Prices are generally lower than Bangkok for the same goods.
The range is broad: silk and cotton textiles, lacquerware, carved teak, silverwork, hill-tribe crafts, paintings, and antiques sit alongside the usual racks of fake designer clothing. The Kalare Night Bazaar and Anusarn Market at the southern end have a more local feel, with good street food stalls and occasional live music.
Bargaining is expected everywhere except the fixed-price shops. If you want something shipped home, most of the larger vendors can arrange it.
