Mae Sariang town is small enough to walk in half an hour. The temples, riverfront, and market are all within easy strolling distance of the guesthouses.
Motorbike hire is the most useful option for getting out of town. Several guesthouses and a few shops on the main road rent motorbikes by the day (around 200–250 THB). The road to Ban Mae Sam Laep and Salawin National Park is paved but winding — it is not suitable for inexperienced riders.
Songthaews (shared pickup trucks) run from the market area to outlying villages and to Ban Mae Sam Laep on no fixed schedule — they leave when full. Ask at your guesthouse for departure points and current fares.
Bicycle hire is sometimes available from guesthouses. The valley floor around town is flat and pleasant to cycle, but the hill roads are steep.
Taxis and tuk-tuks are scarce. Your guesthouse can usually arrange a car and driver for day trips.
