Thai Airways flies to Mae Hong Son from Chiang Mai three to five times daily, depending on the season. The fare is about US$25 and the flight takes half an hour. Some prefer to fly at least one-way, since the road is very winding and it's an eight-hour trip by bus to Mae Hong Son town. The mountain scenery and viewpoints are beautiful, and a self-drive car hire is a good option.
