Central Chumphon is compact enough to cover on foot, but the ferry piers, railway station, and beaches south of town are spread out. Motorbike taxis and songthaews (shared pickup trucks) wait near the market and the railway station and are the easiest way to cover longer distances, including the run out to the ferry piers for the Koh Tao, Koh Phangan, and Koh Samui boats. Renting a motorbike is worthwhile if you plan to explore Hat Sai Ri or the coast road south toward Tambon Pak Khlong at your own pace.
