The southern railway line runs from Bangkok through Hua Hin, Prachuap Khiri Khan, and Ban Krut before reaching Chumphon, then continues on to Surat Thani, Hat Yai, and Trang.
Ferries operate from Chumphon to Koh Tao, Koh Phangan, and Koh Samui. The town has an airport, but there are currently no scheduled flights.
Regular express buses run from Chumphon north to Bangkok and south to destinations further down the peninsula.
