Koh Talu is a small, quiet island in the Gulf of Thailand, sitting off the coast near Bang Saphan and Ban Krut on the so-called Thai Sunrise Coast. No nightlife, no shopping — just beach, sea, and silence. It is the kind of place you go to when you want to do as little as possible: snorkeling, kayaking, lazing on the sand, eating fresh Thai seafood.
The island sits usefully between the popular southern islands and Bangkok, making it a natural stop for travelers island-hopping between the capital and Koh Samui, Koh Pha-Ngan, or Koh Tao. Accommodation is limited to a handful of small resorts near the beach — which is much of the point.
Getting here requires a short boat ride from Bang Saphan, which is itself reachable by road, bus, or rail from Bangkok or from the south. Trains run from Hat Yai and Surat Thani to the north as well. It is not difficult to reach; it just takes a little planning.
