Habib-i Nejjar Mosque

Rebuilt mosque on a site tied to Antioch's early Christian and Islamic traditions.

Habib-i Nejjar Mosque stands on one of Antakya's most layered religious sites. A pagan temple, an early church, and one of the region's first mosques are all part of the story attached to this corner of the old city.

The mosque was badly damaged in the 2023 earthquake and has been rebuilt. It may look new, but the site still carries the city's long habit of changing hands, names, and faiths.
