Bağdat Caddesi

Bağdat Caddesi (Baghdad Avenue) is the Asian side's premier shopping boulevard, a long tree-lined street stretching from Kadıköy south through the prosperous residential suburbs to the Bosphorus waterfront. The street is one of Istanbul's great see-and-be-seen strips — the kind of place where the Istanbul middle class comes to shop, drink coffee, and observe each other.

The avenue is lined with Turkish and international boutiques, cafes, restaurants, and pastry shops. The best section for walking runs from Suadiye southward to Caddebostan. In the evening the street fills with a well-dressed, animated crowd, and the cafes extend onto wide pavement terraces. The seaside park at Caddebostan, a few blocks from the southern end of the main shopping stretch, makes a good final destination.
