Kadıköy is the liveliest bar district on the Asian shore, with a concentration of meyhane (taverns) and craft beer bars in the streets around the market quarter. The neighbourhood has a consistently liberal atmosphere and the bar culture is relaxed and unpretentious. Üsküdar is quieter for drinking — the neighbourhood is more conservative and the options fewer, though good tea gardens along the Bosphorus waterfront more than compensate.
