Derinkuyu is 30 kilometres south of Nevşehir and about 30 kilometres from Göreme. Dolmuş minibuses run from Nevşehir's bus terminal to Derinkuyu several times a day; the journey takes 45 minutes to an hour depending on stops. From Göreme, the most convenient option is a guided day tour that also includes Kaymaklı underground city and other Cappadocia highlights. Renting a car or scooter in Göreme gives you the most flexibility, as the road south through the Cappadocian valleys passes several other rock-cut sites along the way.
Derinkuyu has almost no tourist infrastructure beyond the underground city entrance and a handful of local restaurants — plan to return to Göreme or Urgup for the night.
