Hot Air Balloon Flight

The hot air balloon flights over Cappadocia are most often launched from the Göreme valley but pass directly over Uçhisar in the right wind. Booking from your Uçhisar cave hotel is straightforward and the ride is undeniably spectacular: a slow drift at dawn over fairy chimneys, ancient churches carved into rock, and orchards beginning to glow gold.

Flights cost on the order of 200–300 USD per person, last about an hour, and include hotel pickup before sunrise. They are weather-dependent and frequently cancelled for wind; build a buffer day into your itinerary. Choose a licensed operator — there have been serious accidents involving uninsured firms over the years.

A story
Cappadocia became a balloon-flight destination almost by accident in the early 1990s, when a few foreign pilots realised the still mornings, predictable winds, and dramatic terrain made it one of the best places in the world to fly. On busy mornings now, more than a hundred balloons lift off in a single hour.
