The theatre at Caunos is the most photographed structure on the site — a Hellenistic-style semicircle cut into the southern slope of the acropolis, with a clear view down to what was once the city's harbour (now silted into marshland).
The cavea was originally divided into 33 rows seating around 5,000 people, and most of the lower tiers survive in reasonable condition. The stage building is more fragmentary. Climb to the upper rows for the best view of the delta — on a clear day you can see all the way to the sea.
