Diyarbakır has a regional airport with direct flights to Istanbul on Turkish Airlines and Pegasus. By bus, it's well connected to most major Turkish cities — overnight coaches from Istanbul, and daytime buses from Ankara, Gaziantep, Şanlıurfa, and Van. Long-distance buses use the otogar (bus station) on the edge of town; dolmuş minivans connect to smaller towns and villages in the region. For travellers coming from or going to Syria, Diyarbakır makes a useful alternative stopover to Antakya if you're approaching via the southeast.
